• Nightlight is a station that aired continuous (looped) DTV Transition information beginning on June 12, 2009 (except for emergency and severe weather alerts). Although Nightlights were allowed to operate until July 12, only a small number remained on the air until that date. Nightlights used various types of local IDs. • Transition Highlight photographs display local DTV Transition information that was broadcast on or prior to June 12, 2009. This includes a variety of on-air Transition-related material. These stations left the air or switched to Nightlighting by midnight on June 12. |

UNIDENTIFIED TRANSITION HIGHLIGHT FROM JUNE 12: This unIDed ABC affiliate was recorded during the afternoon of June 12, 2009. WJAC-6 Johnstown, PA (displaying the Transition screens above), WRGB-6 Schenectady, NY (running a Transition message crawl at the bottom of the screen), and CJOH-6 Deseronto, ON (IDed with "ctvottawa.ca" on a promo) were all in the mix at times. The unID was strongest when WRGB was strongest. The black screen was receorded at the beginning of a commercial break. Although WSYX-6 Columbus, OH is a possibility, WSYX had a message on the lower portion of screen earlier, WSYX did not have a Transition countdown up earlier, and signals had moved eastward. WPVI had already switched to digital on channel 6, so WPVI is not a possibility. WLNE-6 New Bedford, MA, however, is a possibility.

With my local KTAL-6 already off by May, I had an open channel 6. The picture to the left is from May, before the DTV Transition. Note the "RMPBS.ORG" logo is lower right during "Barney". KRMA-6 was running Nightlight programming the next time I saw them (see below). |

My favorite Nightlight A very unique and DXer-friendly presentation The framed screen displayed the Rocky Mountain PBS logo and the KRMA-6 ID on the left continuously. The DTV Transition programs were shown in the boxed area to the right. I really like the continuous local ID material. KRMA-6 was the last Nightlight received here. That reception was at 2228 CT on July 12, 2009. |
